Want a film credit?

April 18, 2008 | posted by Scott | Leave a Comment

Okay, time for some more shameless plugging of stuff for family members. :-)

You may recall, back in January 2007 (was it really that long ago?) - I wrote a post about my sister’s fiancé’s short film “For All the Marbles”. Well, he’s now co-written a screenplay for a feature film which he will co-produce and direct. They’ve started quite a phenomenon with their means of raising the money to get the film made - they’re making the film on pocket change!

People from all over are donating small sums (and some not so small sums) to help get this film made. It all started with a jar, and some change out of someone’s pocket, and it’s become much more.

Anyone who donates $100 or more also gets a “Funded by” credit on the film.

You can learn more at their blog Pocketchange Film, or their Facebook group I’m Making a Feature Film with Pocket Change.

More on presentations: How NOT to use Powerpoint

August 16, 2007 | posted by Scott | 1 Comment

David Airey posted the following video on his blog of a comedian riffing on typical Powerpoint presentations. It’s pretty funny… unfortunately, it’s also all too true – many Powerpoint presentations suffer from at least one (and often most) of the don’ts.

Keynote/Powerpoint Presentations

August 3, 2007 | posted by Scott | 5 Comments

I’ve been working on putting together a presentation to introduce people to the Projective Differential™, and thought I’d share some of the resources I’ve found on creating effective presentations. Whether you’re presenting an idea or “pitch” in business, presenting your research at a conference, or using presentation software in teaching a class, you’ll want to make sure your presentation is compelling and effective, leveraging the power of the technology that’s available, while not going so far as to be all sizzle and no steak! Hopefully, you’ll find some of these resources helpful.

Multiple Angles Book Store Goes Live!

March 26, 2007 | posted by Scott | Leave a Comment

I’m pleased to announce that we’ve got our Amazon.com-based book store up and running - just click on the main menu link Books, etc.

We’ve set it up so that the primary categories of items are directly relevant to topics we deal with on our blog and in our consulting. Over the next little while we’ll be doing some fine-tuning, and adding more categories and “recommended reading” lists from each of us. Our book store is run through Amazon, so you can make your transactions with the same confidence as you would if you were visiting the main Amazon.com site.

In the not too distant future, we’ll also have some of our own products to offer (mostly audio recordings for self-hypnosis to deal with specific issues, at least initially). Since those won’t be offered through Amazon, we’ll have a separate store front for those (currently being tested via the “Store” link in the main menu). Of course, to avoid confusion with our Amazon store, we’ll probably have to rename the “Store” – feel free to leave a comment to this post with suggestions.

We’re Back Online ~ Avoid RegisterFly!

February 22, 2007 | posted by Scott | Leave a Comment

After a few stressful days of being AWOL, our website is back online. It turns out the problem was with the registrar we used to register the domain name–although we paid (several times) for the renewal of the registration, RegisterFly did not process the renewal and the registration expired. Fortunately, despite the current mess at RegisterFly, we managed to get the domain transfered to eNom and get back online. Many others have not been so fortunate. (Read more to find out about the RegisterFly mess.)

For All the Marbles

For All the Marbles - a short film at On the Lot

Well, this really has nothing to do with what we do here, but I want to get this out to as wide an audience as possible…

My sister’s fiance, Kris Booth, is a film maker. He’s entered a contest to get on an upcoming television show:

On the Lot is the groundbreaking new show brought to you by reality show mastermind, Mark Burnett, and legendary producer and director, Steven Spielberg. Over the season, the 16 filmmakers will produce short films in every genre every week and the viewers will vote on who gets eliminated. The winning filmmaker will take home a $1 Million development deal!

So, please head over and watch his short film - For All the Marbles - it’s really quite good. I hope you’ll enjoy it, while helping Kris at the same time!

Thanks!!!

Naps, sleep, and so much more…

August 10, 2004 | posted by Scott | Leave a Comment

I’ve been meaning to write about this for weeks, or perhaps even a
couple of months now… and today an email notification of the next
step in development prompted me to finally get on with it.

So, what is it?

pzizz

Ever find yourself part way through the day feeling a bit worn out? Or mired in “brain fog”? Ever have trouble shutting off the events of the day when it’s time to go to sleep?

pzizz is worth looking into as a way to help overcome these common experiences… and the potential for it to help with so much more is just waiting for the developers to put the solutions together.

So, what is pzizz?

APA Convention ~ Presenting TAP

August 2, 2004 | posted by Scott | Leave a Comment

I just returned from the 2004 APA Convention in Honolulu, Hawai’i. It was my first time both at an APA Convention, and to go to Hawai’i.

I gave a presentation in a Seminar session organized by Roulette Smith and Olga Luchakova covering “Frontier Methods in Transpersonal Research and Practice”. My presentation was:

“Online Assessments in a Transpersonal Psychology Doctoral Program: From Paper to Electrons”

The following is a copy of the presentation (with some extra slide transitions added in just for the fun of it).

Click on the slide to move through the slideshow. Please note: the file has to download to be played through, so please be patient, particularly if you’re on dial-up.

Overall, I think it went well. It was certainly a good experience.

The Transpersonal Assessments Practicum (TAP) is a research project at the Institute of Tranpsersonal Psychology. I have been involved primarily in helping to create the online portion of the project… including designing the database, web-pages, and online assessments, as well as working on the implications of such a system in terms of tracking and ethical considerations.
